Decision Guide to Joining a Supercar Club

  1. How experienced is the management in running a club such as this?

P1 is managed by the same people who pioneered the supercar club concept when they founded P1 over 9 years ago now, and have successfully managed the business since then

  2. What is the focus of the club’s management plans to develop the club?

P1’s primary focus is ensuring that all members enjoy the level of service they have come to expect from a P1 membership. Unlike other clubs, P1 will not grow by selling franchises, as it believes it can ensure the P1 membership experience only by managing operations directly.

  3. How will my membership fees be protected?

If a member chooses to pay in full up-front, their membership fees will be held in a dedicated member account and only drawn down monthly or in line with points usage. This provides peace of mind and security for the member’s fees.

  4. Can members pay their annual membership fees in instalments?

Yes, members can opt to pay their membership fees in monthly instalments at no additional charge, which assists members with cashflow and also provides extra peace of mind.

  5. Is the club able to source the latest models for the club fleet?

The club prides itself on regularly sourcing new models to coincide with their UK launch dates, due to its reputation and excellent relationships with the key manufacturers. For instance, P1 took delivery of one of the first three Ferrari 599s in the UK and the second Porsche 997 GT2.

  6. Does the number of members and cars provide good availability?

P1 has always used a tried and tested ratio of 6 members per car, which we have found provides a good balance between availability for members and a sound business model. For instance, in Summer 2008 from June-August the average utilisation across the fleet was 69%.

  7. Does the club have a good reputation and recognised brand?

P1 is an exclusive private members club, which has grown into a strong and recognised brand over the years – widely recognised across the world by people interested in cars, lifestyle and luxury items. The P1 brand is synonymous with access to an impeccably maintained fleet of the finest cars and the highest standards of service excellence.

  8. Does the club have a solid and established membership base?

Yes, on average our members have held their P1 memberships for 3 years, some have been members for 4-5 years or even longer. Indeed, we still have members who have been with P1 since the club was founded 9 years ago now.

  9. Does the club fleet include a good selection of cars?

P1 selects the fleet to provide the cars that have always been the most popular with members. This includes good representation of the top brands, such as Ferrari, Lamborghini, Aston Martin and Bentley as well as a variety of more practical models such as a Range Rover for when members need a 4 seater.

  10. Can members drive the cars overseas to Continental Europe?

Yes, members are welcome to take a P1 car anywhere within the EU and we will provide you with all the documentation required and full roadside assistance. A number of our members enjoy driving a Ferrari F430 to the South of France in Summer, a Range Rover to the Alps in Winter for ski-ing or their favourite P1 car to Le Mans for race weekend.

  11. Do I have to pay extra, the more miles I drive?

No, as a P1 member you are given a generous mileage allocation and are free to use this as you wish across your bookings. We want our members to enjoy driving without counting the miles!

  12. Are there any mileage restrictions on certain cars?

No, P1 members are entitled to drive as many miles as they wish in any of the P1 cars within their overall mileage allowance.

  13. Are there any restrictions on how many days members can drive certain cars, at what times of year or at weekends?

No, a P1 member can book a club car for as short a period as 1 day or as long as 2 weeks, at any time of the year.

  14. Does the club’s points system allow members to spread their usage across the fleet at different times of year?

Yes, the P1 points system - with four different driving seasons for Spring, Summer, Autumn and Winter - is designed to give members the control over how much value for money they enjoy from their membership. For instance, many members choose to take a P1 car to Continental Europe in September, when the weather is still superb but they will use up fewer club points in the Autumn season.

  15. Can the club give me access to actual member usage summaries as examples of what I can get out of my membership?

Yes, we are always happy to provide prospective members with actual usage summaries and can also make introductions to current P1 members, who are always more than happy to share their own experiences of the club.
